Sarah Norkor Anku is a distinguished Private Legal Practitioner, Intellectual Property Attorney, and Consultant with over two decades of expertise in intellectual property (IP) practice. She is the Senior and Founding Partner at Anku.Anku At-Law, Ghana & Nigeria, and PatentAssist LLC, Wyoming, USA, as well as the visionary leader behind SN Anku IP Firm.
Mrs. Anku’s firm, SN Anku IP Firm, is a registered agent of the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) and operates as a certified IP agent in Ghana and Nigeria. Together with a network of global affiliates, the firm provides comprehensive IP registration and enforcement services across Ghana, Nigeria, the ARIPO region, and internationally through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Her practice includes assisting clients in enforcing intellectual property rights, drafting robust IP commercialization contracts, and negotiating high-value agreements. She is also deeply involved in developing institutional IP policies and strategies, preparing template agreements, and advising on technology transfer frameworks. Notably, her firm is collaborating with a development consultancy on a World Bank project to create a national technology transfer framework for Ghana.
Mrs. Anku has contributed significantly to IP capacity-building initiatives. She developed case studies and training materials on “Doing Business in Ghana: IP Tips for Market Access” for the Africa IP SME Helpdesk (a European Commission AFRIPI project). She has trained over 100 women entrepreneurs under the Oxford Women’s Leadership Institute (OWALI) on using IP to expand their brands globally. As a key expert, she contributed to the ACP-EU-TBT Program in Tanzania, facilitated by the Danish Technological Institute.
Her leadership extends beyond practice to governance and academia. Mrs. Anku is a board member of the Ghana National Folklore Board, a member of the Ghana Food and Drugs Authority’s IP Committee, and an Associate Partner of the AfCFTA Policy Network. She also serves as a lecturer in the MPhil Intellectual Property program at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Mrs. Anku is an acclaimed IP speaker, having addressed national and international audiences, including the prestigious 74th New Year School Conference at the University of Ghana. She has authored several articles and two books on IP, including her latest publication, “Monetizing Your Creativity and Innovation: An Introduction to Intellectual Property,” which aims to empower young innovators to monetize their creativity.
